These terms and conditions govern your use of Rhystic for trading and borrowing Magic: The Gathering cards. By accessing or using Rhystic, you agree to be bound by these terms. These terms are subject to the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA) and other applicable South African law.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing the platform, or clicking to accept these terms, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. Your use of Rhystic constitutes an electronic signature and agreement as recognised under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the service.

2. Platform Role and No Liability

Rhystic acts solely as a platform to connect traders. Rhystic does not assume any risk, liability, or responsibility for trades or borrowing of cards conducted between users. All trades and borrowing arrangements are entered into at your own risk. We are not a party to any trade or borrowing agreement between users.

3. User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

Rhystic does not guarantee the accuracy of user-provided information or the outcome of any transaction. You must conduct your own due diligence before entering any trade or borrowing arrangement.

4. Trade Feature

This section governs your use of the trade feature on Rhystic. Trades are barter exchanges of Magic: The Gathering cards between two users.

4.1 Trade Zones

A trade zone is created when one user (the host) initiates a trade and another user (the guest) joins using a join code. Trades are conducted solely between these two participants. You add cards from your collection to the trade, review what the other party is offering, and agree to the exchange.

4.2 Requirements to Complete a Trade

Before a trade can be finalised, both participants must:

Only the host can finalise the trade. Trade zones may expire after a set period; if a zone expires before finalisation, the trade does not proceed.

4.3 What Happens When a Trade is Finalised

When the host finalises a trade, Rhystic updates the collections of both participants to reflect the exchange. Cards you offered are removed from your collection and added to the other participant's collection, and vice versa. This platform update occurs immediately and is irreversible. You may reset an unfinalised trade (as host) to modify the items on offer.

4.4 Physical Delivery

Rhystic only tracks and updates the digital record of your collection. We do not facilitate, arrange, or guarantee the physical delivery of cards. You are solely responsible for arranging how and when to exchange the physical cards with your trade partner (e.g. in person, by post, or at a local game store). Any failure to deliver physical cards, or to deliver cards in the condition represented, is a matter between you and your trade partner—Rhystic is not responsible and will not mediate such disputes.

4.5 Pricing and Payment

Prices shown on the platform (e.g. for valuation or reference) are indicative only. Rhystic does not process payments between users. Trades are barter exchanges of cards; if you and your trade partner agree to exchange cards plus cash or other consideration, that arrangement is solely between you. We do not hold, transfer, or facilitate any monetary payment.

4.6 Team Borrowing

As a separate feature, team members may "borrow" cards from each other's collections for deck building. Borrowed cards remain the property of the owner and are allocated temporarily to a teammate's deck. This is distinct from trading and does not involve a permanent transfer of ownership.

5. Electronic Transactions

In accordance with the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, agreements formed through Rhystic (including your acceptance of these terms and trade agreements between users) have the same legal force as written agreements. Data messages sent via the platform are deemed to have been sent from the originator when they enter an information system outside the control of the originator.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Rhystic to:

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms.

7. Account and Termination

You must provide accurate information when registering. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. We may suspend or terminate your account for breach of these terms, or for any other reason at our discretion. You may delete your account at any time through your profile settings.

8. Consumer Protection Act

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any rights you may have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) that cannot be lawfully excluded. Where you transact as a consumer, you may have additional statutory rights. These terms apply to your use of the platform; transactions between users are governed by the agreement between those users.

9. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from or relating to these terms or your use of Rhystic shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa. You consent to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rhystic and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform or any trade or borrowing arrangement entered into through the platform. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the service. Significant changes may require you to re-accept the terms before using certain features.
